Using an old firewire card and the generic IEEE 1394 OHCI driver (which gave a warning about hardware not matching and also created some other random-looking firewire device entry)


Transfer 1: 4.2 GB from one partition to another on the same disk, Firewire: 12 minutes, 100% CPU

Transfer 2: 4.2 GB from Firewire to USB 2.0 disk: 9 minutes, 25% CPU

Transfer 3: 4.2 GB from USB 2.0 disk to same disk: 16 minutes, 10 % cpu

Transfer 4: 10.4 GB from internal IDE drive to USB 2.0 disk: 20 minutes, 25% CPU

Transfer 5: 4.2 GB from Firewire to IDE: 3 minutes, 30 % CPU

Transfer 6: 4.2 GB from IDE to same IDE: 6 minutes, 10% CPU

Transfer 7: 2.94 GB (16107 files) from one IDE to another, with printouts: 5 minutes

Transfer 8: 2.94 GB (16107 files) from one IDE to another, no printouts: 4 minutes
